Overview

The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for ensuring that all construction projects meet the company's quality standards. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to ensure quality assurance standards are applied across all Brinkmann projects, creating and managing a reporting structure to capture hindsight data as well as develop forward looking KPIs, and supporting & collaborating with project teams to ensure that all work complies with Brinkmann standards and policy, contract specifications and industry standards. This individual will lead the QA team and partner with construction managers, site supervisors, and external stakeholders to ensure continuous quality improvement across all phases of construction.

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy for all construction projects to ensure work meets or exceeds contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the Project teams to ensure they have the resources they need to implement their Project Specific Quality
  • Establish and promote a culture of quality across all construction teams, fostering collaboration and
  • Oversee all phases of the construction process, including design, pre-construction, construction, and closeout, ensuring adherence to quality
  • Ensure quality standards are integrated into project planning, procurement, and execution stages.

Inspection, Testing, and Documentation:

  • Meet with project teams to review Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP) and train team on the plan’s procedures.
  • Implement inspection and testing procedures to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Ensure all QA/QC documentation, including test results, inspection reports, and project- related records, are properly maintained and accessible for
  • Conduct site audits and inspections to verify the effectiveness of quality procedures and standards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented as

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  • Oversee and participate in internal and external quality audits, managing corrective actions and ensuring non-compliance issues are resolved in a timely
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, clients, and subcontractors to address quality concerns and provide necessary documentation during

Continuous Improvement & Risk Management:

  • Identify areas of improvement in project workflows, construction methods, and materials to reduce defects and
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Lead investigations into quality issues, defects, or failures, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Coordinate with Risk Department for any insurance claims related to
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing current processes and identifying areas for efficiency gains and providing internal training resources.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, new materials, and construction technologies to enhance project
  • Regularly update quality management systems to reflect best practices and lessons learned from completed

Supplier and Subcontractor Quality Oversight:

  • Establish and maintain quality standards for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that they adhere to Brinkmann quality standards and
  • Work closely with procurement and construction teams to ensure that materials sourced meet quality and project

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Assist the Project Director for quality-related matters with Project Teams, providing regular updates on quality performance and responding to client
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and other departments to integrate quality assurance processes into all project
  • Represent the company during client audits, regulatory reviews, and on-site inspections, ensuring all necessary documentation and reports are
  • Train project teams and subcontractors on quality management systems and

Reporting & Performance Monitoring:

  • Track and report on key quality performance indicators (KPIs) such as defect rates, non- conformance incidents, and corrective
  • Provide regular quality reports to senior management, highlighting any trends, issues, or areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor and improve the effectiveness of the quality assurance

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in construction quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience managing quality assurance for large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure construction
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to foster a culture of quality and
  • Expertise in construction quality control processes, testing methods, and inspection protocols.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and engage with clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Procore construction management software, quality tracking tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Certifications in quality management systems, Lean Construction, or Six Sigma

Working Conditions:

  • The Director's work is performed indoors or field office at the construction site; entailing working in various weather conditions with some exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise level may range from moderate to loud.
  • Light physical effort is required, including the handling of objects up to 20 pounds and some standing, walking, sitting, talking and/or hearing.
  • Construction site will change or vary and/or position may require travel.
  • Environment will be demanding and fast paced; number of hours typically worked in a workweek may exceed 40 hours per week and often “on call” 24 hours a day.
  • Position requires frequent, high-level of autonomy as it relates to decision-making that impacts company results.
  • Ability to travel to various construction sites and supplier locations as required.
