Overview

The Mission Critical Commissioning Manager leads commissioning activities for complex mission critical projects, including data centers and other high-reliability facilities. This role is responsible for commissioning planning, testing, integrated systems validation, and project turnover, ensuring building systems perform safely, reliably, and in accordance with owner requirements.

The Commissioning Manager partners with owners, design teams, trade partners, vendors, and project teams to support successful startup and operational readiness. This position plays a key role in delivering facilities where uptime, redundancy, and reliability are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities from preconstruction through turnover.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate commissioning efforts with project teams, owners, engineers, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and project planning activities.
  • Coordinate startup, testing, balancing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, controls, fire protection, and life safety systems.
  • Lead factory witness testing, site acceptance testing, functional performance testing, and integrated systems testing.
  • Verify system performance, sequence of operations, redundancy, and reliability requirements.
  • Track commissioning issues and drive timely resolution.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, test reports, issue logs, and turnover packages.
  • Monitor commissioning progress and communicate status, risks, and milestones to project stakeholders.
  • Support owner training, operational readiness activities, and final turnover.
  • Champion safety and quality throughout all commissioning activities.
  • Mentor project teams on commissioning processes and best practices.
  • Travel as required to support project assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in commissioning, mission critical construction, MEP systems, or facility engineering.
  • Experience with large-scale mission critical projects, including data centers preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, controls, and life safety systems.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes, startup procedures, testing methodologies, and turnover requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel based on project needs.
